Summers over and for me as a chef Autumn is still an exciting time of the year. So many exciting ingredients around all of which make my life easier. Its lovely having customers dropping in with apples, pears and quinces for us to turn into something different to keep the customers interested.
With the opening of Whites @ Home back in the summer, I never run out of ideas of what to do,whether it be pumpkin, apricot and almond ,autumn fruit chutney, quince jelly or even pickled spiced pears and mincemeat, ready for your Christmas parties and entertaining at home. Yes Christmas is only just around the corner so the kitchen is busy getting ready to fill all the Christmas hampers.
I also feel very lucky living and working in the area, with a plentiful supply of local game. This with the economic climate as it is, makes menus easier to plan & as I'm sure you've noticed I want to try and encourage you still to come out and enjoy my food in our atmosphere Whites is now offering a fixed price menu. Tues to Friday evenings and Sat lunch @ £13 for 2 courses or £15 for 3. Please try and ignore the negative media coverage on the financial climate and come out and enjoy what has already proved to be a popular menu.
See you in December
Jonnie.
